The management of Tropical Reef Shipyard recognize the results achieved by the Company are as a result of the quality and efforts of the personnel employed at the shipyard.
We employ a broad workforce capability to ensure all our customers maintenance needs are met.
Our experienced on-site teams and long-term local contractors provide the entire range of specialist skills required to repair a vessel including:
- Draughtsman
- Engineers
- Shipwrights
- Metal and nonferrous fabricators
- Plate and pipe welders
- Mechanical fitters
- Dry abrasive and ultra-high pressure water blasters
- Painters
- Instrument and electronic technicians

We have long-term relationships with our suppliers, enhancing our ability to deal with repairs quickly and efficiently. Our suppliers are integrated into our ecosystem to provide seamless service to our clients.
Our team are supported by highly experienced project managers who work from an onsite project management office (with conference facilities). This ensures their availability to assist with issues and resolve them efficiently and effectively.

Join The Crew
Tropical Reef Shipyard employs 150+ dedicated personnel. The number of personnel ramps up and down as well with special projects when certain ships are scheduled for maintenance and sustainment. Our crew work mostly from the shipyard in the Cairns Marine Precint (see video below) and we provide opportunities work in a fly in fly out capacity for some clients to different ports around the Indo-Pacific.
